You could benefit from an Subject Knowledge Enhancement course if you have:

  • Studied the subject to a highly advanced level and but would benefit from a refresher course.
  • Studied a degree which is related rather than an exact match.
  • Recently graduated and studied a degree not related to the subject, but have a related A level.
  • Changed career and have an unrelated degree with substantial related knowledge including an A level.

  • If there is a need, the Subject Knowledge Enhancement will be placed as a condition of your PGCE offer

Course content

Science: Chemistry SKE

  • Develop your knowledge and understanding of Chemistry relating to the key stage 3, 4 and 5 curriculum.
  • Identify and develop your cross curricular subject knowledge.
  • Gain ideas and skills to design and present activities that you may use on the classroom to support your journey onto a PGCE. 
  • 8 week remote learning (20th June 2025 - 15th August 2025)
  • 8 week (international) remote learning (4th April 2025 - 30th May 2025)
  • 12 week remote learning (23rd May 2025 - 15th August 2025)
  • 16 week remote learning (25th April 2025 - 15th August 2025)

Science: Physics SKE

  • Develop your knowledge and understanding of Physics relating to the key stage 3, 4 and 5 curriculum.
  • Identify and develop your cross curricular subject knowledge.
  • Gain ideas and skills to design and present activities that you may use on the classroom to support your journey onto a PGCE.

  • Place your learning in the context of the classroom
